Whoa and woopsie!

Life has been busy. Too busy to blog. Working again was interesting. I'm glad to be back home. We got a little lazy for a while then we got bored then we filled up our days and we're busy. We've gone to some Reno Aces ballgames, we've been on some playdates, we've gone fishing, gone shopping, watched the Reno Rodeo cattle drive, gone to the drive-in movies, gone to the regular movies, what else? The weather hasn't been warm enough to go to the water park on a day we have nothing to do so we'll try for next week. We will try to update more. It's like there isn't much of a middle ground between posting the mundane laundry list of daily tedium and finding time to post the big events.

Don't blink, you'll miss it

Seriously. When did February end? Between the part-time job, swim lessons, and life, I'm not up to date on the tedium of my life. Highlights are going to be the, um, highlights for a bit. Hannah loves swim lessons, is really bossy these days, and is super sweet when she wakes up. She loves "Into the Woods" because the beginning is funny and wants to watch The Backyardigans all of the time.

By the way, Brad has a cold so call before you come over. I'm sure he'll be well by the weekend and we will let you know if he isn't.

Friday

I forgot to blog on Friday. I worked. Hannah played with her grandparents. We came home. We watched cartoons.

This is pretty much the routine. I think I might start a week in review of highlights instead of trying to cram in a blog post. We'll see.

Wednesday & Thursday

Wednesday: I worked. Hannah got to play outside with Papa and they all went to Red Robin for lunch. Hannah got a purple balloon. We came home and she fell asleep during quiet time. It was really hard for me to wake her up and she came out of dreamland right in time to get ready for swim lessons. They did some kicks in the big pool again.

Thursday: We slept in and spend half of the day in our PJs. We got dressed and walked Petey to the playground. It was a very nice day to be out in the sun. We dropped Petey off at home and went to get some lunch. Subway apparently only has six sandwiches available and not one of them was a ham and cheese option. That's according to the less than enthusiastic wave of the underpaid employee's arm in the direction of the menu board. We didn't eat there. We ended up at the Black Bear diner who, coincidentally, doesn't have a ham and cheese sandwich either. They were willing to put ham on a grilled cheese though and that was good enough for Hannah. She ate half of the sandwich and some ice cream. After our late lunch, we went to the DMV. After we drove around to the back parking lot and found a single space in the gravely parking area behind the back lot, I pulled right back out and headed home. I figured it wasn't a good idea to go into the DMV when there wasn't any place left to park.

Tuesday

Yesterday was a second Sunday, so there is no post for Monday.

Tuesday: I worked. Hannah got to have a sleepover at Momo and Papa's last night so I didn't have to get her ready today. I just got myself together and went straight to work. I got to drive the new-to-us Jeep and it was fun. Papa shared some pizza with us when I picked up Hannah and we came home to eat it. Brad was here because he met the satellite repair person during his lunch break and he was happy to have some pizza, too. Hannah had a long quiet time and I nodded off, too. Cartoons and then daddy was home.

Week of the 8th

Things have been hectic, busy, and bustling. I haven't had time post and I probably won't catch up this week. Quick sum-up: I've worked a lot, swim lessons are going swimmingly, Han has a blast when she visits her grandparents, we had a playdate, pajama day. You know what we do everyday. It's been much of the same. Have a great weekend.

Thursday & Friday

Thursday: We had a pajama day but it wasn't very lazy. We watched some cartoons, then we changed the sheets on my bed, then we watched a movie and folded laundry at the same time. Hannah colored, played with her toys, played games at PBSKids.org, and tormented the dog.

Friday: I worked today. Hannah rode her scooter at Papa's and played outside for a while. She had a nap with Momo and got to play some more with Nate. We went to Scheels later in the afternoon and bought some snow pants for me ($35-ish on sale!!) and then we ran to Target for some sundries. Hannah was a big helper, again, and helped carry the hand basket through half an aisle then one of the lighter bags to the car.

Wednesday

I worked today. Hannah brought her scooter to ride at Papa's. She was napping when I got there. Momo taught me how to use the Mini Sewing Machine that Nana gave us and we made a T-shirt tote bag for her from one of Brad's old shirts. Hannah didn't have an interest in sewing but she drew pictures on the bag with some markers. We came home and had a quick snack before Brad got home and took Hannah to swim lessons.

Tuesday

We slept in. Watched cartoons. Went swimming at the rec center pool for toddler time. We met our friends, The Boettchers, at Alf Sorensen's for some time in the tot pool. There weren't very many people there at all so Hannah and Sonja had a lot of room to paddle and splash around. Hannah dunked herself under water all by her self several times. It was a very big achievement. We ended up having a late lunch then a late nap. Hannah asked to play with her Thomas the Tank Engine Trackmaster set so we set that up and she played with it for a very long time.

Monday

I worked today. Hannah went with her grandparents to Costco and Wal-Mart. She told Momo and Papa, very excitedly, that "they have Samples here!" when they got to Costco. She napped for them then played with Nathan for a bit before I took her home. We came home and had a little snack and a movie then went to swim lessons. It was just Hannah and one other boy so they got a lot of teaching and learning time in. Hannah did really well kicking and doing Big Arms.

Friday

I worked today. Hannah napped for a couple of hours with Papa which made the afternoon quite pleasant. Papa helped us pick up my new rolling kitchen island cart at Ace Hardware this afternoon. They had fun saying hello to Jerry, the toucan.

Wednesday & Thursday

Wednesday: I had trouble getting out of bed but that was made better by Papa dropping off an apple fritter on his way home from dropping Nate off at school. Hannah had doughnuts at his house for breakfast. She was very excited about that. After work, I picked up Hannah and we came home to watch some cartoons and rest. Then, we played with some flash cards until Brad got home.

Thursday: Pajama day! Well, half of the day anyway. We slept in until after 9 a.m. and it felt so good! Hannah said she likes sleeping until after the sun comes up. Me, too, kiddo! We lounged for a while. Hannah played on her ClickStart computer while I did a bit of laundry, then we got dressed and took the dog for a walk in the sunshine with Hannah on her tricycle. We walked past the ice cream van (yes, really) but I hadn't brought any cash with me. Hannah still had to look at all of the choices before moving on. The lady in the van gave her a lollipop even though I didn't have any money. That was very nice of her. Hannah hollered a "thank you" as she rode away. We played at the playground for a bit then came home before it was overrun by kids getting out of school. Hannah colored on recycled paper for the longest time then asked to watch a movie.

Tuesday

Hannah went with me to the salon so I could get my hair cut. She waited very well. Then we came home for lunch and got a few chores done. We were listening to some Disney music on Pandora Radio and Hannah kept noticing the Lion King songs and asked to watch the movie. Papa dropped Nathan Nephew (12) off after school because Hannah asked if her cousin could do his homework at our house today. They played with Legos for a while. Nate is so good with Hannah and plays with her extremely well. Hannah would sing "Nants ingonyama!" from "The Circle of Life" song and Nate would answer "Ricola!" We went to the grocery store and both kids were a big help in the shopping. Nate even helped carry the groceries in from the car. My only complaint is that Nate pointed out the Twinkies then expressed ultimate shock that I hadn't introduced Hostess products to Hannah yet. He's right. I'm a horrible mother for keeping the sugar-devil, Hostess, away from the kid. So, I bought a box of Twinkies and a box of Ho-hos. (Brad's waistline be damned, ha ha!)

Monday

Mornings are hard. Hannah got to go to Momo & Papa's in her pajamas. I worked. When I picked up Hannah, we came home and I let her watch cartoons while I tried to rest. We both fell asleep around 3:30 pm and it was almost 6 pm when we woke up. Oops.

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Wednesday: I worked. Hannah had a nap as soon as we got home but still slept a little late.

Thursday: We went to the Moyle house to hang without the kids while their mom ran some errands. It did take us an hour to get home in the storm with the end result of Hannah falling asleep in the car at 5 p.m. while I tried to get around traffic.

Friday: I worked today. Thank goodness Papa came and picked up Hannah this morning because we were already running late and I was frozen out of my car. Hannah had fun making clothespin scarecrows with Momo, baking cookies with Papa, and playing Sorry! with Nathan.

Monday & Tuesday

Monday: Brad had to work. Hannah and I went to a friend's house to visit. Hannah played really hard. She fell asleep while watching a cartoon and ended up with a late nap.

Tuesday: I worked today. Hannah had fun at Momo & Papa's house. She fell asleep during cartoon again.

Thursday & Friday

Thursday: Hannah went to Momo's for a bit while I had my salon appointment. Then we came home and waited for the dryer repairperson to call with his two hour window. The dryer got fixed and I happily washed and dried much laundry. We hung our suncatchers after nap.

Friday: I worked today. Hannah got to go see her Great-Papa Al today with Papa Stan. Hannah had a little late quiet time because she was so cranky and we had plans to visit friends for dinner later so she needed her rest.

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

Tuesday & Wednesday

Tuesday: We slept in a little bit then watched some cartoons. I got the laundry room ready for the repair man then started cleaning the kitchen. Cleaning the kitchen was stop & go so it took all day. We painted suncatchers, we traced letters, we listened to some radio. UPS dropped off my new home maintenance books, the Victorian Stove Shoppe guy came and closed off our chimney since we don't use the fireplace, and the dryer repairperson came to fix but found out he needed a part. It was pretty busy. Hannah slept through most of the repairpeople for a nice long quiet time.

Wednesday: I worked today. After I picked up Hannah, she had a quiet time and fell asleep for a long time. I tried to wake her up after an hour but she wouldn't even stir so I just started being noisy. I still couldn't wake her half an hour later. Finally, I turned on her cartoons and she woke up during the theme song.

Monday

I worked today. I hung out with Momo for bit when I went to pick up Hannah. When we came home, we played with a tracing mat and traced some letters. Hannah did really well staying in line with the little bumpy ones (lower case m, n, r, h, etc) and she was very proud of her self. Hannah begged for a cartoon and I wanted a cuddle so I turned on the TV while we waited for Dad to get home. She fell asleep in seconds and I just let her nap even though it was late.

Friiiiiiidaaaayyy!

I worked again this morning. I was able to get Hannah fed and dressed today and had I not taken the time for myself to eat something, I would have been spot-on time. I picked up Hannah and we raced home to meet the electrician. Hannah fell asleep for quiet time at the same time the electrician got here. The problem with the dryer is not electrical but he did find a possible fire hazard in the breaker box which he fixed. There's that silver lining, I tell you what. Had the dryer not stopped working, we could have had a fire. Wow. I spent the next hour and then some on the phone trying to get someone out to fix the dryer. I have someone coming on Tuesday around the same time the roofer will be here. Fun! I let Hannah sleep a little late because she was just so tired from getting up early all week. What a trooper.
