Thursday

We slept in again since we didn't have the baby today. I had to wake Hannah up around 9:45 AM because she just wouldn't get up. Pink moo, toasty sticks, cartoons.

My parents picked us up and we went with them and Nephew Nathan to see the Reno Rodeo cattle drive down Sutro Avenue. Hannah thought this was so much fun.

"Look, Papa! I see horses!!"

My mom and dad asked us back for lunch and that was a nice treat. We sat at their table up on the little hill in the back yard and ate our lunch. It was a nice day for it. Hannah didn't have much of an appetite after she bit her own tongue eating some pickle.

Hannah played with Papa and Nate outside for a little while then dad brought us home.

Hannah was warm so I took her temp. She was 100.9 in one ear and 102.6 in the other so I gave her Motrin and stripped her down to a tank top for nap time. She had trouble falling asleep because she was hot so I rubbed her forehead with a damp cloth. She thought that was a strange thing to do since wet wash cloths were for baths. She fell asleep a little bit later. She was still asleep when Brad got home around 5 PM.

Update on our little expirement

Do you remember that tomato that had seeds sprouting right inside it? Remember that we stuck the whole tomato in some dirt in a pot and watered it? We promised you a follow up and guess what- it sprouted!

Where did that chocolate bunny go? (cross-post)

I think it means we're doing something right by Hannah (and ourselves) that we haven't gone through all of the Easter candy yet. What was left of that big ol' choco-bunny was getting in my way, though, so I slapped some melted marshmallows between two graham crackers and dipped them in Mr. Bunny that I melted along with an extra Hershey's bar I had in the fridge. Yum, yum, yum, S'mores!
The best reduce, reuse, recycle idea I've had in a long time, if I do say so myself.

Monday

Hannah woke up just before 8:30 AM in her own bed. She hollered at me to "Come here, Mommy!" She wanted me to wake her up. Blueberry toaster waffles, pink moo. Cartoons.

Even though we had errands to run today, we took our time getting up and about because we could.

Fruit snack in car on way downtown to pick up our tickets the Saturday Aces game. We paid the meter, got out of the car, walked across the street and then Hannah's hat blew of. We chased it around the corner and caught it. We picked up the tickets at the box office and noticed the team shop was open. We went in just to take a look. Hannah picked up pink bat. I had her put it down and we started to walk away when I noticed the pink baseball. I looked at the price tags. I looked at her face. We bought them. It was only $11 and change for both ball and bat and she was very excited.

We headed back to Sparks. I have a fully stamped lunch buffet card for Roundtable that entitles me to a free buffet. Hannah fell asleep on the way to the pizza place.

I took her out of the car and into the restaurant. She slept through all of that so I ended up ordering a small to-go. She woke up when I put her in car.

We ate pizza when we got home, since she was awake at that point. After lunch, I made her lay down in bed for an hour. I'm not sure if she slept, but she stayed in bed and rested. After the timer went off after an hour we went to grocery store.

Hannah did OK at the grocery store, but ended up having to stay in the cart for most of it since she couldn't keep her hands off of anything.

She watched cartoons while I unloaded the car and put away groceries. Brad got home not long after.

Tuesday

Somehow I lost the ability to tell time or know which day it was today. This has the end result of a missing daily update. Here's a picture to distract you from the missing summary.

Cute cousins after Saturday's Aces game.

To sum up: I was late for the dentist and almost ran out of gas. Hannah went to Susanne's and had fun. We came home, she slept. The rest is a bit of a blur.

Wednesday, Windy and Busy

We woke up at 7:45 AM. Pink moo, toasty sticks.

We got dressed and were out the door right on time for Easter Bunny Story time at North Valleys Library. We stayed for about an hour. The librarian read some Easter stories. Hannah was a little shy and sat in my lap instead of on the carpet with the children. I think it was because there were so many people there. They really had a good turnout. The kids made a craft with glue and glitter. This was so much fun that Hannah and I now have to go get some glitter for our craft times.

Hannah got to pet baby chicks and a baby bunny, have her picture taken with the Easter Bunny, and have an egg hunt in book shelves.

Home for lunch. We ate shredded chicken sandwiches, a fruit cup, cheese, and chips.

We had a little shopping to do for my Tupperware party and so we ran through the grocery store and picked up a couple of things.

After shopping, Hannah put up a little resistance to nap time but fell asleep. I didn't set the timer. I just gave her a choice between closing her eyes or staying in bed resting. I got busy cleaning and noticed she'd been asleep for almost three hours.

Brad got home around 5:30 PM.

Friday

Hannah woke up around 8 AM and ate breakfast while watching cartoons. We got ready and went to our play date with the Moyles. Hannah wanted me to put braids in her hair ("Princess Leias please, Mommy") so it took a little longer to get out the door.

We stayed and visited with Susanne and the kids for a few hours. We had some yummy, yummy banana bread for snack and the kids ate macaroni and cheese, applesauce, Goldfish crackers, and raisins for lunch. They had ice cream sandwiches for dessert.

On our way home we took our library books back. Hannah wasn't very sleepy so I agreed to go in and let her pick out some more. She played with puzzles and we picked out some books.

Since it was after 3 PM when we got home, I didn't make her nap, but she laid down and watched "Bolt" again. She wanted some Eggos for snack so I let her have some. Then, I let her jump up and down on the air mattress.

Brad got home around 6 PM.

Tuesday, a really good day.

Hannah tried waking up around the time Brad was getting ready for work so he put her in bed with me. She did doze off a little more but was up just before 8 AM. Eggos and pink moo for breakfast.

Today was my day to have the Moyle kids come play while their mom took a break. We're swapping the kids once a week for each other to get some time to ourselves. It works out to two days a month for each of us. Susanne dropped off Emily and Braedyn around 9:30 AM. The kids played with toys for a while, then they had snack that Susanne brought over. It was a drinkable yogurt made for kids. They were still a little hungry to they also had some Goldfish crackers and grape juice.

After snack we had a little craft time. They made little birdie puppets which was fun. They all took the task so seriously and really concentrated on drawing and gluing feathers on. It was cute.

After craft time, we took a walk to the park. Everyone listened really well. They played on the swings, on the slides, they ran around the playground in circles, they ran around the tennis courts, and they ran up a hill. We took an adventure walk home (around the school and down the other side of the block). We were gone for about 45 minutes or so. The weather was a little chilly but not too bad.

Lunch was pepperoni tortilla pizzas. They had apple juice to drink. Dessert was yummy cookies that Susanne had made.

I put it up for a vote whether they would watch a movie or play out in the back yard after lunch, and they voted for watching "Toy Story". Susanne picked up the kids around 1:30 PM. Hannah was fast asleep about five minutes after their van pulled out of the driveway. She slept for about two hours.

Hannah didn't want a snack and just had some pink moo while watching cartoons. After that she played with her horsy and then her guitar and then she played guitar for her horsy. We played on the computer for a little while also.

Brad got home around 5:30 PM.

Fu-unky Ripe Tomato (Cross-post)

These are hydroponic tomatoes from the grocery store. The fruit itself wasn't fuzzy or rotten in any way. I just noticed some strange dimpling in the skin. Upon closer inspection, I realized that the seeds were sprouting inside the tomato. Now that's ripe. We are a silly family and decided to stick a whole tomato into some potting soil and water it. We'll let you know how it turns out.

For the birds

A little over a week ago, we took Hannah to a Parks and Recreation program at Bartley Ranch called "When the Birds Fly Home". It was presented by Ranger Brian and he talked about the different birds in our area and read stories to the kids. They got to color bird houses and create a nesting basket. The basket is a reused berry container with ribbon and yarn scrap stuffed inside. The birds can pull the strings out to make their nests with. It was a good time and a very good craft.

FEATURED FAVORITE

Right. These are just two pencil sized rods held together by two rubber bands and they help squeeze out the last glop of paste or other tube dispensed ointments. Yes, I spent money on something that I could have made at home but I never thought of making something like this and apparently neither did you because somebody got a patent for this little device.

Friday, the 13th, um, again

Hannah woke up around 8 AM. She was yelling from her bed that she can't sleep in her bed all by herself, which she obviously did all night long. She was mad at me that she didn't wake up crying at 2 AM and crawl into bed with me. Silly bear. I praised her for sleeping in her bed and told her I was proud of her.

Pink moo and toasty waffles. Cartoons while I got ready.

I had some trouble keeping Hannah focused on what we were doing this morning. She would wander on into the living room when I wanted her to brush her teeth. I made up "Dora Maps" that showed her what we needed to do. They are really just roughly sketched to-do lists with pictures, but it helped. She was totally on board with the game of checking the Maps of Our Day.

[Pictured backwards, they say we had to (on right) brush teeth, wash face, comb hair, potty, put on shoes and coat; (on left) go to the library, go to the pharmacy, eat at a restaurant. Yeah, I know, I can't draw well.]

We went to the library to return our books and some CDs. Hannah had to put the books in the slot one at a time and was holding up the line a little so the "papa" man behind us just started handing her his books to return. She thought that was fun. She played with (hogged) puzzles and smiled at another little girl before we left. We went to the pharmacy after that and saw another girl jumping up and down so Hannah smiled at her and jumped up and down. After the pharmacy, Hannah and I went to My Favorite Muffin for lunch as a treat. She ate all of the ham out of her sandwich and the mini muffins that came with her meal. She didn't really eat that much. She made quick friends with a baby on our way out the door. After that, we made an unscheduled stop at Kragen for a new cup holder for the white car.

When we got home, Hannah went straight down for nap. She was asleep before the timer went off again at around 2 PM. Around 4:15 PM, I was in my room and I sneezed and I heard from Hannah's room "Bless you!" I called back, "Are you waking up?" and she answered, "No-oh!" About 15 minutes later she started crying that she was afraid of the dark. I had to open her curtains to show her it was daytime.

Pink moo and cartoons. She refused all of the options for snack that I gave her so she didn't get one as long as she couldn't make up her mind.

She watched a cartoon and Brad got home around 5 PM.

Click! Take a pic!

Hannah got her own 1.3 mgp Go, Diego, Go! digital camera. She calls it a "cramma" and ran around the house like a nut taking pictures last night. It gives us a unique perspective and an appreciation for our 8.0 mgp snap-n-shoot. Brad is teaching her how to hold still while taking pictures.
