What we did today, Friday, October 3, 2008
• This morning we’re going to try Dayquil. Enough messing around. It’s going to be another movie day. Sorry, kids. I am sick.
• I kept them still until 7:30 AM watching cartoons. It was just too early for bouncy children.
• Breakfast (7:30 AM) was toasted raisin bread and banana with milk. Much silliness ensued during breakfast, but food was eventually consumed. Garrett ate 1/2 a banana and a few bites of toast. Hannah had 1 1/2 slices of toast and a couple of bites of banana.
• Working on keeping the dog out from under the table while these guys eat. He tries to lick their fingers and clean their laps while they are eating. No good, poochy.
• Popped in Monsters Inc. and let them play for a while as I waited for the Dayquil to kick in, still sneezing my head off.
• Teeth brushed, faces washed. Hannah went potty and we had the squirt across the floor problem that I had with Garrett yesterday. Who knew girls could do that?
• I put together the mini-Chutes and Ladders game that came with the kid’s meal. That was an interesting experiment in taking turns and sitting still. After a while, I ignored the chutes part of the game to get it over with faster. Garrett already tries to cheat when he rolls the dice.
• We did Hannah’s nebulizer at 9 AM.
• Snack (9:40 AM) was apple juice and goldfish.
• Turning ni-nights into Superman capes is cool.
• These guys ran around like nuts long enough for me to change sheets on my bed and gather laundry.
• We tried to have a story time, but they were both being very rude so I stopped mid-story on the first book.
• We went outside at 10:45 AM. The children wanted very much to play on or with anything that could harm them so we came inside after about 20 minutes.
• Puzzles lasted about 5 minutes so I put Star Wars in the TV so I could make lunch.
• Lunch (11:50 AM) was quesadillas with ketchup and corn. The ketchup was not my idea. Garrett ate almost all of the quesadilla and some of his corn. Hannah ate her corn with help and ate the cheese out of the inside of her quesadilla.
• Naptime (12:30 PM) was a challenge for Hannah. Garrett always lays quietly and goes right out but Hannah kept him up by making noises and wiggling around in her bed. I finally put her in the hallway while I rubbed his back, but she made more noise. I told her she’d have to sleep in Petey’s house out back if she didn’t settle down. She came right into bed and went right to sleep. Garrett woke up around 2:45 PM and Hannah slept until close to 4 PM. I napped with them. Brad got home close to 3 PM and played with Garrett.
• Snack (4 PM) was microwave popcorn and water. Oh, then the giant suckers that Jim brought.
