Hoo! What a BIG day.

First of all, Happy New President Day!

Little Miss Party Until 11:30 PM tried waking up just after 6 AM. She said her nose hurt, so I put saline drops in it and brought her back to my bed. Brad was already in the shower. Since we had to be up anyway, I got up and took my shower and left her to snooze in my bed while I got ready. Hannah didn't want to wake up and I was still trying to get her conscious at the time we should have been getting in the car. Pink moo and toasty sticks weren't motivators, either.

We were invited to an Inauguration Breakfast at 8 AM this morning at the Moyle house. Well, it started at 8 AM. We got there around 9 AM. My sweet child couldn’t leave our house without finding her My Little Pony and it’s damn comb. [By the way, Brad, I finally found it in the bottom of the dress up box, for future reference.] When we got there, she didn’t want to bring the pony inside.

Hannah didn’t want to play with the other kids or play alone at first. She pestered me until I threatened to make her sit in my lap to watch the boring grown-up TV. I caught glimpses of the speeches, but I was more worried about Hannah interrupting the other people there. When Hannah did finally play with the other children, she ended up in a timeout for screaming (bloodcurdling, shriek of mock terror) in the house after I asked her twice to stop. Then, my lovely girl got another timeout a bit later for pushing Emily down on the floor on top of a toy that hurt her back a little. We had to leave earlier than I would have liked, but we had to leave for our haircut appointments.

Hannah asked me over and over the entire way from the Moyle house to our salon (about 20 minutes) if she could have her haircut first. We were a few minutes early and Hannah did fairly well at waiting, even if she didn’t sit very still. When it was our turn, Hannah asked our stylist if she could go first and she sat very still. She got two pieces of candy from Cheri for doing so well. Do you know, she remembered dropping a fruit snack on the floor the last time she was there? It was over a month ago. We couldn’t figure out what she was talking about for a few minutes and then it clicked in my memory. When we were done, I handed over a check and Hannah said, “You forgot about me paper.” I pulled out a notepad and Hannah wrote her own check to pay for her haircut.

Brad had mentioned that there were dolls at a certain burger place that had hair you could comb. I guess he saw it on TV. So, Hannah and I went to Burger King, which I haven't been to in a long time. We wrestled through the cattle gate up to the cashier and got our lunch. I say wrestled because the child was trying to climb everything she could touch. My burger wasn't very good and I remember why it's been ages since I've been there. Hannah's kid's meal came with a truck, so I had to go back and ask for a doll. It is a Cabbage Patch Doll with a pink streak in her hair. The arms twist and the head turns. It's cute. Hannah likes to turn the doll's head around so she looks possessed by demons. Not so cute. This doll may end up at the bottom of the dress up box later.

Hannah went down around 1:30 PM, and fell asleep just before 2 PM. I sat still and caught up on writing today's blog post and reading some blogs. And I played a word game online. I woke her up just after 4 PM. I started out just being noisy, then I went in and kissed her cheeks and rubbed her back in a hyper way. Finally, I picked her up and carried her to the sofa and turned on Dora. She opened her eyes wide as soon as she heard "Backpack! Backpack!"

We looked at our sprouting flowers and growing grass guy. We watched cartoons and I combed her hair again. We left around 5:30 PM. Brad had an appointment and I had a book club meeting, so we met at the restaurant where my meeting was to swap the kid. Hannah and Brad then went to Red Robin for a special dinner date.
