What we did today, Wednesday, October 1, 2008
• Hannah woke up excited that Garrett was here.
• Breakfast (7:15 AM) was blueberry muffins and orange slices with various flavored milks. They each went through about one muffin each.
• Faces washed, teeth brushed, and both kids dressed. On pace today!
• Playing with the picnic basket lasted 5 minutes, playing with the balloons lasted hours.
• We did Hannah’s nebulizer around 8:15 AM.
• So, 8:45 AM and we’ve had 10 whole minutes of playing with the drumsticks and guitar and one of the drumsticks is broken because one of the kids didn’t want to put them down to get off the sofa. It was an accident, but it’s toast.
• Coloring giant train pictures at the kitchen table bought 15 minutes of focused activity. They seem to push each other into boredom somehow. More observation (and coffee for me) will be needed to figure out how to combat this.
• Snack (9:15 AM) was fruit snacks and orange juice.
• We went on a walk for about 25 minutes. I took a scarf that they had to hold onto if they got too far ahead or behind. It worked well to swat the wasps that were attracted to us.
• We had a little dance time with much silliness. Garrett really tries to sing along, even when he doesn’t know the music. Who are these Beatles, anyway?
• We played out in the back yard for about 30 minutes.
• Brad came home for lunch.
• Lunch was leftover kielbasa sausage, pasta shells in cheese, and peas and carrots with lemonade. We had to bribe Hannah with cake to get her to eat. Garrett loves cake.
• Naptime (12:25 PM): Garrett slept until 4:10 PM, Hannah was up at 3 PM. I fell asleep again today, too. I’m just tired.
• Afternoon snack was crackers.
• Brad came home around 4:30 PM and took the kids out back to play with the mini ATV.
• I put chicken breasts in mushroom soup in the oven around 5 PM.
• Garrett went home around 5:30 PM.
