Up. Not quite attem yet, as of 9:15-30 AM. Toasty sticks and pink moo were served and cartoons were turned on. Made beds and let some light in. "Why bother making beds?" you ask? I can only view it as a deterrent to climbing back in.
Hannah lounged and cuddled. I am so greedy at taking advantage of these moments because I know the days are numbered where she'll want to sit in my lap and let me kiss her head and tickle her toes and just squeeze her in my arms.
I mended a couple of tears in the quilt on my bed. There are more to do but someone started taking an interest in the items of my sewing box, so I had to stop. I did have a clever idea, though. There are quite a few tears, so I pinned Post-it tabs to all of the places that need mending so that I can find them later.
We turned on the radio and Hannah played with a laundry basket while I wandered aimlessly. We decided to get dressed and go outside.
Hannah asked to ride her Star Wars Quad, so we got jackets and shoes on, found the bike helmet, got Petey leashed to the gate, backed the car out of the driveway, and then she got mad at me because she didn't want to ride around the driveway. She wanted to go to the park. Now, let me explain how this little machine operates. The little tike sits on it and pushes a little red button located on the steering wheel with her thumb. It will only go if she pushes it with her thumb. This means that there is a lot of stop and go because a three year old thumb won't hold that little button down for very long. We started out down the street and we got about half way to the park when she didn't want to push the button anymore and would Mommy please push it for her? First of all, I have the dog with me, so one hand is already yanked by Petey pulling on the leash (Oh, FYI, "ssshhhhhttt! doesn't work for everyone, Caesar.) Second of all, I'm not going to walk three blocks hunched over a toy quad. The other draw back is that she doesn't want to pay attention to where she's going and steer the thing. After she tried to go under a parked truck, I pulled her off and carried the damn thing to the park. OK, so she was still a foot away from the truck and not in any real danger, but I had run out of patience. We are not ever taking that thing to the park or anywhere again. I let Hannah play for about half an hour then we (me dragging dog and quad, Hannah whining about walking, and Petey choking himself out on the leash) trudged back home for lunch.
Lunch was leftover meatloaf with extra ketchup, banana, and cheese. She ate well enough to earn a couple of cookies. Hannah went straight to bed without a fuss and fell asleep quickly for nap. She slept for about two hours. She woke up yelling for me and seemed like she wanted to go back to sleep, but wouldn't let me leave. I told her I was folding clothes, so she could come in the living room with me or stay in bed alone. She got up right away.
Yummy popcorn and Gatorade for snack while watching Dora and Diego.
Brad got home around 5:15 PM. Hannah and Petey were so excited to see him that they nearly tripped over each other to get to the door. I didn't think today was all bad, just that bit where we were half way to the park.
