The Children's Museum in Carson City

The Children's Museum in Carson City was our planned outing today with Susanne and the Moyle kids. We planned this a week or more ago and I was all ready last night with a bag packed full of fruit snacks and extra pants for Hannah.

I also had an appointment at 9 AM, so the alarm going off at 7 AM hit me like a brick. I was in a time-warp with my sleepy head this morning, so I woke Hannah up a little later than I had planned. She had pink moo and toasty sticks while I tried to get ready. Since we were running late, I offered to let her wear her PJs to my doctor's office and we could dress her at Susanne's before we left for Carson. Did you know it's nearly impossible to get shoes on over feety fleecy pajamas? So, last minute change of clothes and we were out the door. We only had 10 minutes to get to Mill Street near downtown Reno. Trying to save time, I tried to avoid the Pyramid and McCarran intersection which took me through four school zones and we ended up almost half an hour late. Hannah wiggled and talked and interrupted and played with the mini blinds and was just plain uncooperative while I was trying to talk to my doctor. She won't go with me next time.

After the appointment, we went to Susanne's house and gathered everybody up into her van for the drive to Carson. It was kind of a grumpy morning for everybody, but we got all the kids strapped in and headed south. The kids had a slice of cheese and the girls ate yogurt covered raisins for a snack in the car.

In Carson City, we were looking for a place to eat lunch and saw a sign for Grandma Hattie's Restaurant. They were really nice and the food was pretty good. Hannah wanted breakfast for lunch and ate all of her egg and half of her pancake. She was nice and shared her bacon with Braedyn. Oh, she actually told me when she had to go potty and she did the number two which she usually doesn't do outside of the house.

After lunch we went to the Children's Museum. The kids ran around like maniacs and we had the place to ourselves for the better part of an hour. Susanne had fun with the dancing video game. A favorite thing for the kids was the jail.

After the museum, we headed back to town. The kids ate fruit snacks in the car and then Susanne stopped at the fudge shop just north of Washoe for a special treat. After a pitstop for Braedyn in Pleasant Valley, we got back to Susanne's close to 3:15 PM. Hannah and I got home closer to 3:45 PM.

Hannah didn't want a nap, so I told her she could just read a book in her bed. She fell asleep when I wasn't looking. I woke her up at 5:30 PM.
